In the midst of this global pandemic, there are many things and loved ones to worry about. We are grateful for the everyday heroes and health care workers around us. They are strong, and so are our children.
Children in Buffalo, the surrounding areas, all across New York, and around the world have been affected by Covid-19. They no longer go to school. They miss their teachers, their friends, and important lessons. Parents must now assume the role of teacher, while also worrying about finances, childcare, and health. For Every Little Handprint knows the importance of getting to be a child, and the students already at risk of losing important childhood memories are hit harder by the pandemic. As Anthony Horowitz said, “Childhood, after all, is the first precious coin that poverty steals from a child.”
That is why For Every Little Handprint wanted to make Easter special for as many children as possible. This is the third year For Every Little Handprint has provided Easter baskets to children in Buffalo. Our organization was connected to the Stanley G. Falk School by Leadership Buffalo and committed to providing 25 baskets for students at all three of the Falk School buildings. Each basket was personalized, according to age, for the child who received it. The baskets were brought to the Falk School’s Rossler Campus, then distributed by principals and teachers.
The children were overjoyed to see familiar faces and receive Easter baskets. One little boy referred to his basket as “the Easter basket of hope.”Supporting For Every Little Handprint makes special moments like this possible. In the wake of uncertainty, illness, and financial hardship, For Every Little Handprint was glad to deliver baskets of hope.
